USDE awards grants to California special ed teaching programs
Two special education teacher training programs in California won awards of over $100,000 each from the U.S. Department of Education to help train highly qualified teachers of students with high incidence disabilities.

New law expands teacher pool for autistic students
Districts now have new options in providing teachers for autistic students. A bill signed into law by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger earlier this summer and effective June 30, allows teachers authorized to serve students with mild or moderate disabilities to also instruct students with autism.
